We are thrilled to announce that Sarker Protick, a leading light of contemporary photography, will participate in the much-awaited group exhibition “Line, Amass and Lineage”, curated by Niharika Momtaz, the founder of Bangladesh Art Week. His contribution is expected to be an important exploration of the modern visual arts.

The Artist: Sarker Protick

Regarded for his vivid expressions of time and memory, Sarker Protick has mastered the art of capturing fleeting moments in his minimalist and atmospheric images. His work explores what is most fragile, both in terms of place and experience, acting as a lens to change and ephemera.

Often, his pictures take these brief pauses between things before they start moving again, and a low-level light that seems to be fading keeps them alive even though they represent the past or elapsed memories that cannot be explained away.

This way, these images act as bridges where he portrays fragile experiences, allowing for further exploration into solemnity and expansiveness.

The Essence of Time

Protick often uses photography, video, installation pieces, and sound to create narratives that allow viewers to rethink conventional chronologies. These projects are, for the most part, based in Bangladesh, where he takes time out of abstraction by turning it into something materialistic, thereby making it real. Such artistic practice makes moments stretch longer so that there can always be reflections on life itself.

Instead of following a linear path towards temporality, Protick represents time in non-linear ways – flowing, ebbing, and evolving. Thus, he provokes more profound engagement from his audience, compelling them to rethink their relationships with memory or time.

Beyond the Art: Educator and Curator

Besides being a renowned artiste, Protick is also an esteemed teacher at South Asian Media Institute – Pathshala in Dhaka where original thought has been nurtured over the past decade. In visual storytelling, he has played a central role in changing young photographers’ perspectives by emphasizing on the significance of temporal and mnemonic elements.

Chobi Mela, a festival for international photography that has run since 1999, is co-curated by Protick. The global audience that attends this festival provides an ideal opportunity to take note of what is happening in contemporary photography within Asia and worldwide.

Accolades and Achievements

His breakthrough in photography has seen him win many prizes, including the Joop Swart Masterclass, Foam Talent, Light Work Residency, and Magnum Foundation Fund.

The photographer is also among the World Press Photo Award winners, which is quite significant in terms of his international artistic presence.

Experience Protick at “Line, Amass & Lineage”

Sarker Protick’s works in “Line, Amass & Lineage” will prompt viewers to ruminate about life’s impermanence and the brief beauty of passing moments. Through his works, which have won him awards, educational endeavors, and curatorial projects, Protick continues to redefine contemporary photography through inspiration.

The works by Sarker Protick exhibited in Delhi’s Shrine Empire offer an unmatched opportunity for audiences to relate to them as though they were reading a novel.

Come along and celebrate the genius behind Sarker Protick’s work and other extraordinary artists at “Line, Amass & Lineage.” It is more than just an art exhibition—it delves into our existence through time, which changes everything, and memory, which keeps evolving into something new.
